Rafael Márquez Álvarez (locally: [rafaˈel markes ˈalβaɾes]; born 13 Februar 1979 in Zamora, Michoacán) is a Mexican umwhile fitbawer. He played as a central defender or defensive midfielder.
He spent ower a decade playin in Europe, winnin numerous titles wi Monaco an FC Barcelona. In 2006 he acame the first Mexican player tae win the UEFA Champions League when his Barcelona side beat Arsenal.
