Madame de Genlis (Stéphanie Félicité; 25 Januar 1746 – 31 December 1830) wis a French noblewoman, writer, harpist an educator. In 1758, in Paris, her skill as a harpist an her vivacious wit speedily attracted admiration. At the age o sixteen she wis mairit tae Charles Alexis Brûlart, Coont o Genlis (afterwards Marquis o Sillery) she wis an also a niece o Madame de Montesson (the morganatic wife o Louis Philippe d'Orléans, Duke o Orléans) bi 1772 she wis a lady-in-waiting tae The Duchess o Chartres, an haed apartments at the Palais Royal in Paris. Despite haein a short-lived affair wi The Duke o Chartres, bi who she haed at least ane bairn. She wad later be the governess o the bairn o the Duke an Duchess o Chartres (includin the future Louis Philippe I an Mademoiselle d'Orléans. During The Terror o the French Revolution she fled tae Ingland an during the reign o Keeng Louis Philippe I she wis made the governess o his bairn. She died in Paris aged 84. She wis buried at the Père Lachaise Seemetry.
