Leyland tractors wis creatit efter the merger o the British Motor Corporation (BMC) wi Leyland Motors tae form British Leyland in 1968. Nuffield Tractors haed been stairtit efter Warld War II bi Lord Nuffield, awner o Morris Motors LImited, thit haed become pairt o BMC in 1951.
Efter the merger, Leyland chynged the colour frae the Poppy Reid o Nuffield tae twa-tone blue, thit wad last richt up tae the early 1980s. Production muived tae Bathket in Scotland. Whan Leyland haed taen ower Nuffield, the Nuffield name still appeared until 1969 afore it wis completely abolished.
