Helen Joanne "Jo" Cox[1] (née Leadbeater;[2] 22 Juin 1974 – 16 Juin 2016) wis a Labour Pairty politeecian in the Unitit Kinrick. She wis the Member o Pairlament (MP) for the constituency o Batley an Spen haein retained the seat for Labour in the 2015 general election.[3]
On 16 Juin 2016, Cox wis shot an stabbed multiple times during her lunch break in Birstall, Wast Yorkshire, whaur she haed been hauldin a surgery wi her constituents. She wis left in a creetical condeetion an subsequently died frae her injuries in hospital. A 52-year-auld suspect, Thomas Mair, wis arrestit.[4] He wis sentenced tae life in preeson on 23 November 2016.
On 20 October 2016, Tracy Brabin wis electit tae succeed Jo Cox as Member o Pairlament for Batley an Spen.
