Wad we no be best flittin this tae aither "The Starn-Spangled Banner" so it's Scots or gin ye think it shoud be hauden wi its Inglish and therefore offeecial name, we shoud flit it tae "The Star-Spangled Banner" wi a hypen like on the Inglish airticle.

A've juist noticed that a wisnae loggit in whan A chynged the airticle but it wis me. Scroggie 13:22, 9 Februar 2008 (UTC)[replie]

The sang's in English. We wadna hae airticles on "The Sang o Marseilles" ( < La Marseillaise) or "The Sang o Germans" ( < Das Lied der Deutschen), sae we shuidna hae an airticle teetle wi "starn" an no "star" seein hou the original teetle haes "star".
(mind you haein a poke aboot en: it's a bittie mair complicatit nor that A suppose. en: isna conseestent wi whither it pits naitional anthem teetles ower intae English. It haes "National anthem of Russia" and "March of the Volunteers" (Cheenae (PRC)) raither nor Государственный гимн Российской Федерации or 义勇军进行曲 (or e'en Gosudarstvennyj gimn Rossijskoj federatsii or Yìyǒngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ). But "Kimi ga yo" (Japan) raither nor "My lord's reign".
A think in general we shuid keep naitional anthems wi their oreeginal teetles but A'm no for haein tae type in 义勇军进行曲 gin A want tae look up the Cheenese naitional sang!

Teetles o beuks an sangs etc. that's in English shoud mebbes better bide the wey they are unless a Scots version haes been setten furth in prent, whaur we can juist uise that, giein the soorce. Mebbes redd the spellin gin its fou o apostrophes or ower orra. We certes shoudna pit things ower intae Scots wirsels. Whan we uise English teetles we shoud mebbes better pit them in italics for tae shaw: Yes! We know its English. O coorse wi leids ither nor English, things is a bittie mair complicate. Fowk readin the Scots will ken the English, but likely no the ither leids sae a translate is a kin o a help. Mebbes pit wir ain translate in invertit commas "like this" for tae shaw it isna 'offeecial'. Mebbes there's 'offeecial' version o thir Roushie an Cheenae sangs aboot an that's whit en: uised. Mebbes we coud translate thir an aw? A jalouse fowk micht re-wirk the translate, juist pynt oot its been duin by editors here. 84.134.226.84 23:21, 9 Februar 2008 (UTC)[replie]
