The naitional banner o Estonie (Estonie: Eesti lipp) is a tricolour featurin three equal horizontal baunds o blue (top), black, an white. The normal size is 105 × 165 cm. In Estonian it is colloquially cawed the "sinimustvalge" (literally "blue-black-white") , efter the colours o the baunds.

Thare are a nummer o interpretations attributit tae the colours o the banner. A historical interpretation o the colours haes blue representin auncient freedom, black seembolisin lost unthrildom an white, the promise o a brichter future. Anither interpretation made popular bi the poetry o Martin Lipp is as follaes[1]:

  • blue: vaultit blue sky abuin the native land;
  • black: attachment tae the soil o the hameland as well as the fate o Estonians – for centuries black wi worries;
  • white: haurd wirk, purity, commitment, an (maist likely) white sails o ships

The shade o blue is defined in the Estonian banner law as follaes: Blue tone is on the internaitional PANTONE table o colours 285 C.
