Etymology
[eedit | eedit soorce]The name is derived frae Auncient Egyptian Tpyhwt, meanin the first o the cous, referrin tae Hathor. The name became Petpeh in Coptic, frae which is derived the Arabic version Atfih (أطفيح). The ceety wis an aa kent in Greco-Roman Egyp as Aphroditopolis.
