Amealco is a municipality in the Mexican state o Querétaro. Its name is thocht tae mean place o springs in Nahuatl. The municipality seat, cried Amealco forby, is locatit 63 km sootheast o Santiago de Querétaro. Its elevation is 2,605 meters abuin sea level, an the annual temperatur ranges frae 15 tae 20 °C. It is ane o the auldest settlements o Querétaro, being foondit in 1538 bi Fernando de Tapia (kent as Conín forby) an Nicolás de San Luis Montañez, who wad foond the State caipital an aw.
