As o 2005, the municipality haed a total population o 6,559, wi 3,351 in the municipal seat.[1]
It covers an aurie o 236 km².
History
[eedit | eedit soorce]The territory o the municipality wis oreeginally settled durin the Classic Period o pre-Hispanic Mesoamericae bi a group o Tzeltal settlers. Their dounset, in 1486, wis invadit bi Aztec troops unner Tiltototl. In 1528, follaein the Spaingie Conquest, an encomienda wis establisht in the aurie.
