Pech
The pech war a teep o gnome-like creatur in Scots mythology. Thay war short but awfy strang. They brewed heather ale an focht agin the Scots.[1][2]
In ae fairy tale, an auld blind pech is on his deithbed. He asks twa young men gin he can feel thair airm muscles, to feel how strong they've grown. Ane o the youths plays a prank on him, giein him a metal cup insteid o his airm. The pech elder snaps the metal cup wi his fingers, shatterin it, leain the youths in a state o unco. Even sick on his deathbed, he is stranger nor thaim.
The Pech war thocht tae be ane o the aboriginal biggers o the stone megaliths o auncient Scotland, alang wi giants. They micht be relatit tae the Picts an pixies.[3]
