Mywaddy

Myawaddy (Burmese: မြဝတီ) is a toun in sooth-eastren Myanmar in Kayin State close tae the border wi Thailand. Separatit frae the Thai border toun o Mae Sot bi the Moei River, the toun is maist important tradin point atween Myanmar an Thailand.

On 6 August 2010, a bomb explodit in the parkin lot o a crowdit market in Myawaddy, killin twa men an seriously injurin fower ithers.^[1]

Economy

The border-crossin is a major route for the export o Burma's gems,^[2] mony o which hae their provenance chynged ance athort the border.^[3]
