Maldonado is the caipital o Uruguay´s Maldonado Depairtment. Its population, as o 2004, wis 54,603.
History
[eedit | eedit soorce]Maldonado wis foondit in 1755 at the initiative o the Govrenor o Montevideo Joaquin de Viana. It wis firmly established bi the arrival o 104 permanent settlers in 1757. Its oreeginal name wis Maldonado, but, years later, its name was chynged tae San Fernando de Maldonado, in honor o King Ferdinand VI o Spain.
