Hopelchén (Yucatec Maya: "place o five wells") is ane o the 11 municipalities in the Mexican state o Campeche. It is situatit inland in the north o the state. The municipal seat, an lairgest dounset, is the ceety o Hopelchén.

It covers 7,460.27 km², accoontin for 13% o the state's tot surface aurie.

O the 1990 figure, 17,664 spoke ane o several indigenous leids, predominantly Yucatec Maya wi 14,983 an Ch'ol wi 2,039; the tot nummer o indigenous leid speakers haed fawen tae 15,416 bi 2005. Bi the 2010 census, the population haed increased back up tae 37,777 indwallers.
