Guaymas (Spaingie pronunciation: [ˈɡwajmas]) is a ceety an municipality locatit in the Guaymas Municipality in the soothwast pairt o the state o Sonora in northwastren Mexico.[1] The ceety is locatit 117 km sooth o the state caipital o Hermosillo, an 242 mile frae the U.S. border, an is the principal port for the state.[1][2] The municipality is locatit in the Sonora Desert[3] an haes a hot, dry climate an 117 km o beaches.[1] The municipality’s formal name is Guaymas de Zaragoza an the ceety’s formal name is the Heróica Ciudad de Guaymas.[1]
