Galepsus
Appearance
Galepsus wis a auncient Greek ceety on the peninsula o Sithonie, the central peninsula o the Chalcidice, in Thrace. It wis probably locatit on a hill aboot 8 km tae the north o Torone an aboot 17 km frae Amphipolis. It belanged tae the Delian League. It wis foundit as a colony o Thasos.[1] Efter the conquest of Amphipolis it was occupee'd bi Brasidas in 424 BC, but recovered bi Cleon in 423. Perseus o Macedon, fleein the Romans who haed defeatit him at Pydna, sailed the mooth o the Struma, an towards Galepsus, stayin thare afore muivin on tae Samothrace.
