I'm a bit mystified as to why this page exists. Nobody in Scotland uses written Scots of this form when communicating beyond text messages and perhaps the odd post on Facebook. I'm a "Scots speaker" and (like every other Scots speaker on the planet no doubt) I find this infinitely harder to read than something in standardised English. Many of the words on the few Scots articles that do exist are just crude approximations of the way people speak English. Others, like the word "hain" on the button below with "Hain page" written on it, are literally unintelligible to the vast majority of Scots speakers. Start talking to a person in Scotland about "hainin" things and almost nobody will understand what you're talking about.
I'm sorry but someone has to draw the line on this somewhere. Ever since the Scottish independence referendum there's been a surge in this kind of nationalist-oriented editing on Wikipedia. It started with putting Gaelic place names on articles about towns that have never had Gaelic names. Now we've got Scots articles that have no purpose whatsoever given everyone reading them will find the English version easier to understand. There's been too much passive acceptance of this on Wikipedia - the way nationalist ideology has been accommodated without anyone stepping in and exercising common sense is at best a bit silly, and at worst something that's undermining the credibility of the entire website. I read this site in the voice of Groundskeeper Willie and find it hilarious. 4.14.255.154 (talk) 19:05, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
