Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol[5] (German: Trentino-Südtirol;[6] Italian: Trentino-Alto Adige, pronounced [trenˈtiːno ˈalto ˈaːdidʒe], Trentino-Sud Tirol[7] or Trentino-Sudtirolo;[8] Ladin: Trentin-Südtirol[9]), is an autonomous region in Northren Italy. Syne the 1970s maist legislative an admeenistrative competencies hae been transferred tae the twa autonomous provinces which mak up the region: Trentino an Sooth Tyrol.
The region wis pairt o Austrick-Hungary an its predecessors, the Austrian Empire an the Holy Roman Empire frae the 8t century till its annexation bi Italy in 1919. Thegither wi the Austrian state o Tyrol it is representit bi the Euroregion Tyrol-Sooth Tyrol-Trentino.
In Scots, the region is an aw kent as Trentino-Sooth Tyrol[10] or by its Italian name Trentino-Alto Adige.[11]
