Liaoning? () is a province o the Fowkrepublic o Cheenae, locatit in the northeast o the kintra. Its ane-character abbreviation is "辽" (pinyin: liáo), a name taken frae the Liao River that flows through the province. "Níng" means "peace".[1] The modren province wis established in 1907 as Fengtian province (奉天 pinyin: Fèngtiān; Postal map spellin: Fengtien) an the name wis chyngit tae Liaoning in 1929. Unner the Japanese puppet Manchukuo regime, the province revertit tae its 1907 name, but the name Liaoning wis restored in 1945.
Liaoning is locateit in the soothren pairt o the Northeast, an is aften cried "the Gowden Triangle"[2] acause o its superior geographical location.
