Kil Municipality (Kils kommun) is a municipality in Värmland Coonty in wast central Swaden. Its seat is locatit in the toun o Kil.
The local govrenment reform o 1971 amalgamatit Stora Kil, Järnskog an a pairt o Brunskog, thus formin Kil Municipality.
Kil means wedge, crack or similar in Swadish, in this case referrin tae a bay (auld Swadish). The name is at least frae the fifteent century, referrin tae a bay bi the sma lake Hyn, whaur the kirk wis constructit. The toun later became the seat o the juridical Kil Hunder, which is kent tae hae existit in 1426.
