Gorokhovets (Roushie: Горохове́ц‎) is a toun an the admeenistrative centre o Gorokhovetsky Destrict o Vladimir Oblast, Roushie, locatit on the heich-gate frae Moscow tae Nizhny Novgorod. It serves as a river port on the Klyazma River. Population: 14,016 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 14,524 (2002 Census);[4] 15,783 (1989 Census).[5]

In 1539, the Tatars o Kazan wur aboot tae burn it but retreatit upon seein a ghost in a shape o a gigantic knicht wi a swuird. Efter that, the munt whaur the apparition wis seen came tae be kent as Puzhalovo ("frichtenin ane").

The gowden age o Gorokhovets is associatit wi the 17t century, whan it wis a merchandise centre for a lairge aurie, which comprised the day's Vladimir an Ivanovo regions.
