"Dentro del idioma del desarrollo gráfico es preciso, sencillo, expresivo, reúne la información simbólica sobre el Municipio de Simijaca, hay estructura geográfica, expresamente gráfica, lo de arriba y lo de abajo; lo de arriba el sol, lo de abajo el agua y el nexo entre las dos dimensiones, el verde de las montañas especialmente el de los Picos del Sicuara, el amarillo dado por su riqueza." 

En agosto del 2018, Con motivo de los 418 años de fundación,  la administración y el consejo municipal convocaron el diseño de un nuevo escudo para el municipio resultando sleccionado el diseño del licenciado Guzmán Carrillo.(https://scontent.fbog5-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/40091069_333775307364197_7986206591277858816_n.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=33add80a7974af4e1806077ad51aa2ae&oe=5C045FDD) Ahora se esta a la espera que se adopte como el nuevo escudo de Simijaca.
