Limerick City Council is the local authority for the ceety. The ceety is built on several curves an islands o the River Shannon, which spreads intae an estuary shortly dounriver frae Limerick. It is the third maist muckle ceety in the state an is the first tae receive the designation o Ceety o Cultur.
