Gallhammer is a Japanese extreme metal group that draws on black metal, doom metal, an crust punk.[1][2][3] They formed in Tokyo in 2003. Aw o the members are female, which is rare in their genre.

Their first recordin, a free demo tape limited tae 30 copies, wis distributit at their first gig at Koiwa Death Fest Vol.2, aroond Mairch 2003, in Japan. In Julie o the same year, the sel-titled demo album wis released. Bi Aprile o the follaein year, they haed released anither demo album, Endless Nauseous Days, an wur wirkin towards their debut full-length CD. The 8-track album, entitled Gloomy Lights, wis released in November 2004 through Hello From The Gutter Records.
In Januar 2006, Gallhammer wis signed tae Peaceville Records, on the recommendation o Darkthrone.[4] A CD/DVD pack, entitled The Dawn of..., wis released, containin a CD, demo an rehearsal fuitage, an a DVD recordin o Gallhammer performin in Okayama an five concerts in Tokyo.
Gallhammer released their seicont full-length album, Ill Innocence, through Peaceville Records in September 2007, follaed bi a European tour. In Mairch 2008, they did a seicont European tour. They an aa played at the Inferno Metal Festival in Juin.

In an interview wi Contraband Candy, Vivian Slaughter citit Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Amebix an Burzum as Gallhammer's main muisical influences.[5] Slaughter is an' a' a passionate fan o Judas Priest,[6] an appreciates Corrupted.[4] While the group borraes frae crust an anarcho-punk, they dae no identify wi a particular poleetical ootleuk.[7] She says she wis first inspired tae play muisic efter seein Napalm Death an Painkiller in concert.[4] Ither influences include Joy Division, Antisect, Carcass, Cathedral, Morbid Angel, an Scorn.[8] Risa Reaper is a fan of old school techno, Kraftwerk, Krautrock, and Laibach.[6] The group is also inspired by Japanoise and have collaborated with Incapacitants.[6]
