A Benedictine abbot frae Languedoc, France, oreeginally bapteezed Smaragdus. He becam a Benedictine, teuk the name Ardo, an sert unner Saunt Benedict o Aniane. Ardo directit the monastery schuil at Aniane an convoyed Saunt Benedict on his traivels. In 814, Ardo becam Saunt Benedict's successor whan the abbot wis made superior o the Aachen monastery in Germany. Ardo wrate the biography o Saunt Benedict o Aniane. He dee'd in 843. His feast day is on the 7t o Mairch.
