The Free Hanseatic Ceety o Bremen (German: Freie Hansestadt Bremen, pronounced [ˈbʁeːmən]) is the smawest o Germany's 16 states. A mair informal name, but uised in some offeecial contexts, is Land Bremen ('State o Bremen').

Geography[edit]

The state o Bremen consists o twa separatit enclaves: Bremen, offeecially the 'Ceety' (Stadtgemeinde Bremen) which is the state caipital, an the ceety o Bremerhaven (Stadt Bremerhaven). Baith are located on the River Weser; Bremerhaven is further downstream and serves as a North Sea harbour (the name means "Bremen's harbour"). Baith ceeties are completely surroondit bi the neighbourin State o Lawer Saxony (Niedersachsen). The twa ceeties are the anerlie admeenistrative subdiveesions the state haes.
