Behemoth is a Pols blackened daith metal baund frae Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered tae hae played an important role in establishin the Pols extreme metal unnergrund, alangside baunds such as Vader, Decapitated, Vesania an Hate.
Till the late 1990s, the baund played a traditional black metal style wi heathen leerical content, but suin chynged tae that o occult an thelemic themes written bi their lead vocalist Nergal an Krzysztof Azarewicz. Wi the 1999 release o Satanica, the baund showed their presence in the blackened daith metal scene, while retainin their awn signature style characterized bi the drum wirk o Inferno, multi-layered vocals an Middle-Eastren influences. Regardless that Behemoth haes been labeled as daith metal, black metal or thrash-influenced, Nergal haes mentioned that he does no like the baund tae be labeled.
