The naitional banner o Burundi wis adoptit on Mairch 28, 1967. It consists o a white saltire which divides the field intae alternatin red an green auries. The center o the saltire merges intae a white disk, on which there are three red solid sax-pointit stars ootlined in green. The ratio o the banner wis 2:3 till September 27, 1982.

The green colour seembolizes hope, the white seembolises peace, an red those who fell in the struggle for independence.[1] The three stars stand for the three major ethnic groups o Burundi: the Hutu, the Twa an the Tutsi. The three stars an aa stand for the three elements o the naitional motto: Unité, Travail, Progrès ("Unity, Wirk, Progress"), which can be seen on the Coat o airms o Burundi.[1]
