Aarhus, (Danish pronunciation: [ˈɒːhuːˀs] ( listen)), is the seicont-lairgest ceety in Denmark. The principal port o Denmark, Aarhus is on the east side o the peninsula o Jutland in the geographical center o Denmark. Aarhus is the seat o the cooncil o Aarhus municipality wi 310,956[3] inhabitants an 242,914 (1 Januar 2010)[2] in the inner urban aurie, an aboot 800,000 inhabitants athin 1/2 oor transport (Greater Aarhus).[4] The ceety claims the unofficial title "Caipital o Jutland".[5]

Aarhus is the main an biggest ceety in the East Jutland metropolitan aurie (Dens: Byregion Østjylland). which is a co-operation in the eastren Jutland wi 17 municipalities.[1] Wi mair than 1.2 million fowk livin in the aurie it represents approximately 23% o the population o Denmark an is the seicont lairgest metropolitan aurie efter the Copenhagen metropolitan aurie.[6]
