English: The coat of arms of Lindlar

The arms were granted on August 6, 1935.

The arms show in the upper part the lion of the Counts of Berg and in the lower the balance as a symbol of justice. Lindlar had its own court in the County Berg. The arms are based on the old seal of the court and village of Lindlar.

Deutsch: Wappen von Lindlar

„Der Scheffen Sigel zu Keppel“ lautet die Umschrift des Siegels des ehemaligen

Gerichtes Keppel zu Lindlar im alten Bergischen Amt Steinbach. Es zeigt im

Siegelfeld in einem Barockschild das Wappen: Im oberen Feld den aufsteigenden

Bergischen Löwen als Herrschaftswappen, im unteren Feld eine Waage als Symbol

der Gerechtigkeit der Schöffen.

Das Siegel ist 3,05 Zentimeter groß und aus einer Urkunde vom 4.12.1781 im Band

XV des katholischen Pfarrarchivs in Lindlar überliefert.

Da die Gemeinde Lindlar seinerzeit den größten Teil des Hohkeppeler

Landgerichtsbezirks ausmachte, konnte das Schöffensiegel Keppel dem Wappen der

Gemeinde zugrunde gelegt werden.

Das Recht zur Führung des Wappens erhielt die Gemeinde am 6. August 1935 durch

den Oberpräsidenten der Rheinprovinz.
