In 2005, he wan the Best Muisic Director award for the Bengali film Shudhu Tumi. His sang "Ya Ali" frae the film Gangster (2006) brocht him naitional acclaim, earnin him the GIFA an Stardust Awards for Best Playback Singer (Male).

He received the National Film Award for Best Muisic Direction for the bilingual film Echoes of Silence (English–Khasi).
