Computer simulation o the Yird's field in a period o normal polarity atween reversals.[1] The lines represent magnetic field lines, blue when the field pynts towards the centre an yellae when away. The rotation axis o the Yird is centred an vertical. The dense clusters o lines are within the Yird's core.[2]

Yird's magnetic field, an aa kent as the geomagnetic field, is the magnetic field that extends frae the Yird's interior tae whaur it meets the solar wind, a stream o charged pairticles emanatin frae the Sun.
