So, you'd like to help out with Scots Wiki, but you don't speak Scots, or you're not confident in your written Scots?
Not to worry, as there are a number of tasks with which you can help, and which would be greatly appreciated by the community here! Good community health on any Wiki requires many kinds of editors, doing lots of different kinds of editing, and there are plenty of tasks which need to be done.
In the spirit of en:Wikipedia:WikiFauna over on English Wiki, We're suggesting that you undertake some of these WikiGnome or WikiElf-esque tasks. But seeing as this is Scots... we're inviting you to be a WikiBrounie.
Please note: The sco.wiki community has had some very well-meaning non-Scots speakers try to help over the years. We are understandably rather wary of non-Scots speakers trying to fix what they think initially are typos, or do mass edits, or run bots that might make large scale changes to the Wiki, as these kinds of actions can have unintended consequences. Scots does not have standardised spelling, for example. And there are some words that really are the same in Scots as they are in English - we'd rather not use vocabulary just because it sounds "more Scottish", as this can have a distortion effect.
Do their best to work on WikiBrounie tasks, therefore freeing up time for editors who are proficient in the Scots language to focus on the text of the Wiki.
Not engage in language-based edits unless they're really, really sure that the translation is correct. If in doubt, they do not engage in language-based edits.[1]
If they have an idea for a mass edit / bot, they will seek community consensus and community buy in before proceeding.

Some articles, instead of linking to sco.wiki articles, link to en.wiki articles. This is far from ideal. These should be replaced with sco.wiki links, or de-linked as appropriate.
Citations to the Daily Mail newspaper should be removed and replaced.
Use this search link to identify any citations leading to the Daily Mail, and replace with a reliable source.
Citations to archive.today should be removed and replaced.
Use this search link to identify any archive.today citations, and replace. Sco.wiki is following en.wiki's restrictions on this source, which can be read about on the en.wiki article here.
When removing an archive.today link, it should be replaced with an Internet Archive / Wayback Machine link instead wherever possible. To do this:

WikiBrounies are a valued part of the Big Wiki Rewrite project, and the impact and progress of WikiBrounie tasks are recorded on the Wikipedia:WikiProject The Big Wiki Rewrite/Tasks page on a regular basis. If the area you'd like to work on isn't represented please send a message on the talk page and let's discuss how to add it!
