Sussex County is a coonty locatit in the soothren pairt o the U.S. state o Delaware, on the Delmarva Peninsula. As o the 2010 census, the population wis 197,145.[1] The coonty seat is Georgetown.[2]
The first European dounset in the state o Delaware wis foondit bi the Dutch in 1631 near the present-day toun o Lewes. Housomeivver, Sussex Coonty wis no organisit till 1683 unner Inglis colonial rule.
Sussex County is includit in the Salisbury, MD-DE Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses hintle o central Delmarva.
