During a space battle ower Coruscant atween the Galactic Republic an the Separatist Alliance, Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi an Anakin Skywalker lead a mission tae rescue the kidnapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine frae Separatist leaders Coont Dooku an General Grievous. Efter infiltratin Grievous' flagship, the Jedi engage Dooku in a lichtsaber duel, which ends wi Anakin killin Dooku at Palpatine's urgin. Grievous flees the battle-torn cruiser, which the Jedi crash-land on Coruscant. Thare, Anakin reunites wi his wife, Padmé Amidala, who reveals she is pregnant. Initially excitit, Anakin begins tae have premonrrtions o Padmé dyin in childbirth.

Palpatine appynts Anakin tae join the Jedi Cooncil as his representative, but the Cooncil declines Anakin the rank o Jedi Master an orders him tae monitor the Chancellor, diminishin Anakin's faith in the Jedi. Palpatine entices Anakin wi knawledge o the dark side o the Force, includin the pouer tae prevent daith. Eventually Palpatine reveals himsel tae be the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. Obi-Wan manages tae find Grievous' hidin location on Utapau, efter a lang duel Obi-Wan manages tae destroy Grievous wi a blaster. Anakin reports Palpatine's treachery tae Mace Windu, who subdues Palpatine in an ensuing lichtsaber duel. Meanwhile, Palpatine salvages Vader an brings him back tae Coruscant, whaur his ruined body is repaired wi cybernetic limbs an his iconic respiratory suit. Palpatine informs Vader o Padmé's daith, devastatin him. As the Sith supervise the construction o the Daith Starn, Obi-Wan an Yoda determine tae hide the twins frae the Empire. Senator Bail Organa adopts Leia an taks her tae Alderaan, while Obi-Wan delivers Luke tae his stepfamily Owen an Beru Lars on Tatooine, whaur Obi-Wan intends tae watch ower Luke till the time is richt tae challenge the Empire.
