Sha (Ш ш; italics: Ш ш) is a letter o the Glagolitic an Cyrillic script. It commonly represents the voiceless postalveolar fricative /ʃ/, like the pronunciation o ⟨sh⟩ in "sheep" or the somewhat similar voiceless retroflex fricative /ʂ/ in Roushie. Mair precisely, the soond in Roushie denotit bi <ш> is commonly transcribit as a palato-alveolar fricative but is actually a voiceless retroflex fricative. It is uised in every variation o the Cyrillic alphabet, for Slavic an non-Slavic leids.

In Inglis, Sha is romanized as ⟨sh⟩ or as ⟨š⟩, the latter bein the equivalent letter in the Latin alphabets o Czech, Slovak, Slovene, Croatie, Latvie an Lithuanie.

(Note the similar form of the modern Hebrew Shin (ש), which is probably the origin o this letter, derivin frae the same Proto-Canaanite soorce). Sha already possessed its current fairm in Saunts Cyril an Methodius's Glagolitic alphabet. Maist Cyrillic letter-fairms wur derived frae the Greek, but as thare wis na Greek sign for the Sha soond (modren Greek uises simply "Σ/σ/ς" tae spell the sh-soond in foreign wirds and names), Glagolitic Sha wis adoptit unchynged.
