Sede vacante[a] is a term in Catholic Kirk canon law that means that the seat is empie. It is uised whan a diocese or archdiocese haes nae prelate installed in office. This aften happens whan a Pape dees or resigns. Durin this time, the Holy See is run bi the Camerlengo an the cardinals. In the Diocese o Roum, the empie seat is the cathedra o Saint John Lateran, the main kirk o the Bishop o Roum.[1][2][3][4]
