Rakhine State (Burmese: ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်, Rakhine pronunciation [ɹəkʰàiɴ pɹènè]; Burmese pronunciation: [jəkʰàiɴ pjìnɛ̀]; umwhile Arakan) is a state in Myanmar. It is locatit approximately atween latitudes 17°30' north an 21°30' north an east langitudes 92°10' east an 94°50' east. The Arakan Muntains, which rise tae 3,063 metre (10,049 ft) at Victoria Peak, separate Rakhine State frae central Myanmar. Aff the coast o Rakhine State thare are some fairly lairge islands sic as Cheduba an Myingun Island. Rakhine State haes an aurie o 36,762 square kilometre (14,194 sq mi) an its caipital is Sittwe.[2]
