Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uises electromagnetic fields tae automatically identify an track tags attached tae objects. The tags contain electronically stored information. Passive tags collect energy frae a nearby RFID reader's interrogatin radio waves. Active tags hae a local pouer soorce such as a battery an mey operate at hunders o meters frae the RFID reader. Unlik a barcode, the tag need nae be within the line o sicht o the reader, so it mey be embedded in the tracked object. RFID is ane method for Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC).[1]
