In Darmstadt on 21 Aprile 1650 Sophie Eleonore mairit her cousin, Landgrave William Christoph o Hesse-Homburg (1625–1681). On the occasion o her wedding, her faither gave her the district an castle o Bingenheim. Wilhelm Christoph preferred Bingenheim tae his castle in Homburg, so the faimily mostly lived in Bingenheim an Wilhelm Christoph wis sometimes cried the Landgrave o Hesse-Bingenheim. Her faither haed promised that her male descendants wud be allowed tae keep Bingenheim efter her daith,
