Princess Auguste o Hesse-Homburg (Auguste Friederike; 28 November 1776 – 1 Aprile 1871) wis a member o the Hoose o Hesse and a Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg bi birth. Through her mairiage she wis also a member o the Hoose o Mecklenburg an Hereditary Grand Duchess o Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She wis a cousuin o Princess Wilhelm o Proushie.

Mairiage[eedit | eedit soorce]

In Homburg on 3 Aprile 1818, the 41-years-auld Auguste mairit Frederick Louis, Hereditary Grand Duke o Mecklenburg-Schwerin, twice a widower and faither o four surviving children. The mairiage wis suggested bi the late second wife o the Hereditary Grand Duke, Princess Karoline Luise o Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (Auguste's first-cousin) at her daithbed.

The union was childless and lasted only 18 month until Frederick Louis' death on 29 November 1819. She was a devoted stepmither for her husband's childer, taking responsibility for their upbringing an education. She developed a particularly close relationship with her stepdochter Princess Helene, eldest child an anly dochter o her cousin Karoline Luise.
