It is bisected bi the Termon River whit is pairt o the mairch atween the Republic o Ireland an Northren Ireland. The portion o the veellage in Northren Ireland is offeecially cawed Tullyhommon, but is locally kent as 'High Street' due tae its hillside poseetion owerlookin the remeender o the veellage. The rest o the veellage in the Republic incluides Main Street, Mill Street an Station Street, aw o whit meet in The Diamond at the centre o the veellage. Thare are awso twa relatively modren hoosin estates on the northren ootskirts, namely Termon Villas an St. Patrick's Terrace alang wi new developments sic as Mill Grove. Til the late 1700s, the airie wis kent as 'An Tearmann', meanin 'a place o sanctuar'. The modren Irish (Paiteagó) an Inglis (Pettigo) names derive frae the Latin protectio (pertection), a translation o the Irish 'An Tearmann'.
