Future nuclear plant plans[eedit | eedit soorce]

Horizon Nuclear Power, an E.ON an RWE joint venture, announced in 2009 intentions tae install up tae 3,300 MWe o new nuclear plant at Oldbury. Horizon is considering building either two 1,650 MWe Areva EPR reactors, or three 1,100 MWe Westinghouse AP1000 reactors. As the Severn estuary watter supply would be inadequate tae cuil these larger reactors, cuilin touers would be built.[1][2]

On 18 October 2010 the Breetish govrenment announced that Oldbury was one o the echt sites it considered suitable for future nuclear pouer stations.[3]

On 29 March 2012 E.ON an RWE npower announced that their plans tae build the new pouer station had been shelved.[4]

In Late 2012, It was announced that Hitachi had bought the UK Nuclear project from E.ON an RWE. Horizon Nuclear Power (a subsidiary o Hitachi) plans tae build Advanced bylin watter reactors (ABWR) at this site along with Wylfa Nuclear Pouer Station, the lead site.

The construction o the new station will not start until the new station at Wylfa is operational. This is tae gain knowledge an learn from the construction o Wylfa Newydd (umwhile Wylfa B) an tae correct any problems that may arise during construction.
