Nechtan nepos Uerb
Appearance
Nechtan grandson o Uerb,[1] wis king o the Pechts frae 595 tae aroond 616. It haes been suggestit that this Nechtan is the same person as the Neithon that ruled the kinrick o Alt Clut.[2]

[eedit | eedit soorce]- ↑ The wird nepos can mean grandson or neffae, but probably means neffae; some variants read "son o". Perhaps a female name, cognate wi the Auld Erse Ferb; ESSH p. 145, note 3. Variant forms include Uerp, Irb an Yrp. Thir are seemilar tae the patronyms Uuirp, Erp, Erip, Irb, Yrb an Eirip that are uised o Drest I an Nechtan I.
