Napoléon Jérôme, Prince Napoléon (Napoléon Joseph Charles Paul; 9 September 1822 – 17 Mairch 1891), usually cried Napoléon Jérôme Bonaparte or Jérôme Bonaparte, wis the seicont son o Jerome, Keeng o Westphalia an his seicont wife Catharina o Württemberg. An oustpoken liberal, he became the de facto heid o the House of Bonaparte frae 1879 tae his death. He wasn't considered a legitimate pretender to the throne bi many Bonapartists, due tae his faither's previous marriage without divorce. They instead preferred his son Victor. Frae the 1880s he wis ane o the stronger supporters o General Georges Boulanger, together with other monarchist forces.
As well as bearing the teetle o Prince Napoléon, gien tae him bi his cousin Emperor Napoleon III in 1852, he wis also 3rd Prince o Montfort, 1st Coont o Meudon an Coont o Moncalieri, following his mairiage with Maria Clotilde o Savoy in 1859. His popular nickname, Plon-Plon, stemmed frae his difficulty in pronouncing his own name as a child.
