In mathematics, a Mersenne prime is a prime nummer that is ane less nor a pouer o twa. That is, it is a prime nummer o the form Mn = 2n − 1 for some integer n. Thay are named efter Marin Mersenne, a French Minim friar, that studied them in the early 17t century.
