Margherita of Savoy (Margherita Maria Teresa Giovanna; November 20 1851 - Januar 4 1926), wis the first Queen o Italy as the wife o Umberto I o Italy. According to legend, in 1889, the Margherita pizza, whose red tomatoes, green basil, and white cheese represent the Italian flag, wis named after her.

Margherita signed the wedding contract with her first cousin, Umberto, Prince o Piedmont, on 21 Aprile 1868 in the ballroom o the Ryal Pailace o Turin, followed the next day bi one civilian an ane religious wedding ceremony. After the wedding, the couple settled in Naples. On 11 November 1869, Margherita gave birth tae Victor Emmanuel, Prince o Naples, later Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, in Capodimonte, Naples.
