Louisa Maria Stuart Louise Maria Teresa; 28 Juin 1692 – 18 Aprile 1712), kent tae Jacobites as the Princess Ryal, wis the auldest an anly dochter o James II o Ingland an his wife Mary o Modena. The new-born princess wis gien the names Louisa and Maria in baptism, while Teresa (sometimes spelt Theresa) wis added later, at the time o her confirmation. She wis gien the name Louisa in honour o King Louis XIV, wha actit as her godfaither. Her godmither wis King Louis's sister-in-law, Elisabeth Charlotte o the Palatinate, Duchess o Orléans. She niver mairit but wis considered as a possible bride for Charles o Fraunce, Duke o Berry, but the mairiage niver happened as the Duke o Berry was nae a Catholic.
