Louis Philippe d'Orléans, Duke o Orléans (12 Mey 1725 – 18 November 1785) wis Duke o Orléans an a great-grandson o Keeng Louis XIV o Fraunce, as well as the grandfather o Keeng Louis Philippe I o the French. He sold the Château de Saint Cloud tae Queen Marie Antoinette in 1785.

Louis Philippe's faither haed the rank o a Prince o the blood at court as did Louis Philippe. This entitled them tae the style o address o "Serene Highness".

On 17 December 1743 at Royal Chapel o the Palace o Versailles the young Duke o Chartres mairit Louise Henriette de Bourbon (herself a distant cousin, kent as "Mademoiselle de Conti" Houiver efter a few months o a passion that surprised everyone at coort, the couple stairtit tae drift apart as the young Duchess o Chartres began tae lead a scandalous life. The couple did hae three childer thegither. Louise Henriette eventually died in 1759 an Louis Philippe wad eventually tak a mistress in the form o Étiennette Le Marquis, wi whom he'd hae three illegitimate childer wi. In spite o his liaison wi Étiennette, Louis Philippe haed several ither mistresses until he met, in Julie 1766, Madame de Montesson, a witty but mairit twenty-aicht year auld. Louis Philippe tried tae obtain Keeng Louis XV's authorisation tae mairy the young widow. Finally, in December 1772, the Keeng gae his consent on the condeetion that the Marquise o Montesson wad never acome Duchess o Orléans or succeed tae ony ither Orléans titles. In addition, the couple wis tae live a quiet life away frae the cort. The morganatic wedding teuk place on 23 Aprile 1773.

Louis Philippe wad die at the Château de Sainte-Assise à Seine-Port, Fraunce in November 1785 aged 60. He wis surroondit bi his childer. He wis buried in the Convent o Val-de-Grâce, Paris
