Godiva (Auld Inglis: Godgifu;[1] fl. 1010–1067) wis an 11t-century Anglo-Saxon noblewoman wha, accordin tae a legend datin at least tae the 13t century, rode naked – covered anly in her lang hair – throu the streets o Coventry tae gain a remission o the oppressive taxation that her husband imposed on his tenants.
