From 1706 tae 1707, the Carthusians, under Le Blond's superintendence haed a great hoose built at the expense o Antoine de La Porte, canon o Notre-Dame (despite the legend, the architect wis nae Courtonne, but Jean Baptiste Alexandre Le Blond, 1679-1719.

The Hotel wis rented in 1714 bi the Dowager Duchess o Vendôme who had it modified tae its present condition twa years later bi Le Blond. The Duchess wis the widow o Louis Joseph de Bourbon - the famous militar general an great grandson o Gabrielle d'Estrées; she wis also the youngest grandchild o Le Grand Condé.

The Dowager Duchess who died in 1718 killed bi alcoholism, is probably nae prestige sponsor for the residence, better illustrated bi the Chaulnes branch o the Hoose o Albert (better kent as Dukes o Luynes) who dwelt there frae 1733 tae 1758.
